supporting families when they need it most

At Jump Gymnastics, we believe childhood should be filled with movement, connection, confidence, and joy.

But we also know that for some families, childhood looks a little different.

Jump Gymnastics was founded by Jennifer Hood after the birth of her second daughter, who was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis. Jennifer built Jump Gymnastics in part to create a business that could support her family through the flexibility and challenges that came with raising a child with chronic illness and complex needs.

Her family’s experience also gave her a firsthand understanding of what it is like to spend time at BC Children’s Hospital, to navigate the uncertainty and demands that come with a child’s medical needs, and to experience the emotional and mental toll that this can have on an entire family.

Years later, a former Jump Gymnastics coach would find herself on a very different, but surprisingly connected, path.

Rachael Fortier was a coach at Jump Gymnastics before becoming the founder of Mighty Warriors Foundation. Inspired by her twin nephews’ battle with leukemia, Rachael wanted to create meaningful support for children and families navigating childhood cancer. She founded Mighty Warriors in May 2023.

our origin stories are completely separate

But somehow, they brought us together.

Jennifer founded Jump Gymnastics because of her experience as a mother navigating childhood illness. Rachael founded Mighty Warriors because of her experience as an aunt watching children she loves fight cancer.

And Rachael just happened to be part of the Jump Gymnastics Team along the way.

Today, our organizations are connected by something simple: we both care deeply about children and families.

So this year, Jump Gymnastics is partnering with Mighty Warriors Foundation to support families who are spending some of their hardest days in the hospital.

how can you help

Bring a little comfort.

From November 1st to December 15th, we’ll be collecting practical, travel-sized items that can be packed into care kits for families spending time in hospital with their children.

We’ll have collection bins at each Jump Gymnastics facility, so you can simply bring your donations with you when you come to the gym.

Some of the things families may need include:

  • Travel-size shampoo and conditioner

  • Toothbrushes and toothpaste

  • Body wash and deodorant

  • Tampons and pads

  • Socks

  • Slippers

  • Phone chargers

  • Other small, practical personal-care and comfort items

When a family suddenly finds themselves spending days or weeks at the hospital, these are the everyday things that can easily be forgotten — or simply aren't practical to run out and purchase when you're focused on your child.

A fresh pair of socks. A toothbrush. Toiletries. A phone charger when your battery is running low.

They may seem like small things, but when you're spending your days and nights at the hospital, small things can make a big difference.

Every contribution helps Mighty Warriors continue supporting children and families affected by childhood cancer.

From our gym to their hospital room, we’re hoping to make things just a little bit easier for families who need it most.

Because sometimes supporting a family starts with something as simple as a toothbrush — and sometimes it starts with knowing that someone is in your corner.
