Summer Camp Leader

Bring the theme to life. Lead the adventure. Inspire little ones.

At Jump Gymnastics, summer camp isn’t just about running activities — it’s about creating an experience.

Each week our camps are built around a fun theme, and our Camp Leaders transform the gym into an adventure where kids can imagine, move, explore, and play. From jungle expeditions to superhero training camps, we’re looking for leaders who bring energy, creativity, and storytelling into everything they do.

If you love working with young children, enjoy being active, and aren’t afraid to be a little silly to make a theme come alive, this could be the perfect role for you.

this role is perfect for you if…

You love being the person who brings the energy to the room. You’re comfortable leading groups of kids, speaking with parents, and jumping into imaginative play. Whether you’re pretending to climb a mountain, leading a group cheer, or helping campers celebrate reaching the “summit,” you’re excited to fully lean into the theme and make the experience fun and memorable for everyone.

Our best Camp Leaders are enthusiastic, confident communicators who enjoy being active, creative, and a little bit theatrical when it helps bring camp adventures to life.

what you’ll do

As a Camp Leader, your role isn’t just to follow a schedule—it’s to create an experience. While delivering all of our camp activities, you’ll bring the weekly theme to life and keep kids engaged, excited, and fully immersed throughout the week.

You will:

  • Lead groups of campers (ages 4–7) through daily camp activities

  • Bring weekly themes to life through storytelling, games, movement activities, and imaginative play

  • Use creativity and enthusiasm to keep campers excited and engaged

  • Guide children through beginner gymnastics activities and active games

  • Support positive behaviour and create a welcoming, inclusive environment

  • Confidently communicate with parents during drop-off and pick-up, sharing highlights from their child’s day and answering questions

  • Work closely with fellow coaches to create a fun, high-energy camp environment

The most successful Camp Leaders are those who can take a theme and run with it, turning simple activities into something memorable for the kids.

who we’re looking for

You’re a great fit if you are:

  • Charismatic, energetic, and confident leading groups of kids

  • Creative and excited about themed camp experiences

  • Comfortable using imagination, storytelling, and play to engage young children

  • Confident and friendly when speaking with parents

  • Interested in coaching, education, kinesiology, or child development

  • A reliable team player who thrives in an active environment

This role is ideal for those who want to develop leadership, coaching, and group facilitation skills while working with children.

a day in the life of a camp leader

Your day starts before campers arrive. Around 8:00 AM, you open the gym, check the schedule, and review the camp lesson plan with your team. Today’s theme is Mountain Adventures, so the gym will soon transform into a mountain expedition.

Before campers arrive, you join a morning scrum with camp management—a positive team kick-off to ensure everyone is ready to work and fully aligned on the day’s theme. You check attendance, review any special camper needs, confirm rotations, and discuss how to bring the theme to life in each activity. With your assistants and interns, you set up the camp environment—building centre stations, preparing craft supplies, and turning the space into a place where kids can imagine themselves hiking, climbing, and exploring the mountains.

By 8:30 AM, campers begin arriving. You greet families, help kids settle in, and chat with parents so they feel confident leaving their little adventurers in your care.

Once camp begins, the theme comes alive.

In the Base Camp kitchen centre, campers pretend to cook meals for hikers returning from the mountain. At the Rocky Ridges block station, they stack foam blocks and LEGO to build towering peaks. At the table stations, campers create mountain trail maps or design their own “Climb the Numbers” board game, helping hikers reach the summit while practicing counting and problem-solving.

Around mid-morning, it’s snack time, and you sit with the campers to support them. Using the theme, you might say: “Let’s refuel before we continue our hike to the summit!”

Later, you gather the group for story time and read Over on a Mountain, inviting campers to count animals and move their bodies like mountain creatures—climbing like goats, stretching like soaring birds, and crawling through imaginary caves.

At lunch, you eat alongside the campers again. Modelling eating together and encouragingn playful conversation within the theme “Time to refuel our energy so we can finish our mountain expedition strong!”

When it’s time for gym activities, you work alongside our gymnastics coaching team to guide campers through movement challenges. Together, you help run the Summit Challenge Obstacle Course, where children crawl through caves, climb slopes, balance along ridges, and jump over rocky terrain before reaching the summit and planting their flag. You support the coaches by encouraging campers, guiding them through the course, and helping them build confidence as they move through each challenge.

Throughout the day, you keep the energy high and the theme alive—cheering on campers, helping them solve challenges, and turning simple activities into imaginative adventures.

In quieter moments, campers build 3-D mountain collages with paper peaks and cotton snow or create skiing penguins ready to glide down icy slopes. These activities build creativity and fine motor skills while giving kids a chance to recharge between active play.

At pick-up time, you reconnect with parents, sharing highlights from the day—who conquered the obstacle course, who built the tallest mountain, and which campers loved being the expedition leader.

After the last camper heads home, you join an afternoon debrief scrum with camp management to celebrate the day’s successes, review any challenges, and prepare for the next day. You also provide direction to your assistants and interns, then tidy the gym and reset the space for the next camp adventure.

Because at Jump Gymnastics, being a Camp Leader isn’t just about running activities—it’s about creating an experience kids will remember long after they’ve climbed their last mountain.
